On the occasion of Children’s day, the Cape Verdeans institutions talk about the predictable increase in child labor as well as their vulnerable situation due to the Covid-19 Crisis. The president of an institution called “Associação das Crianças Desfavorecidas (ACRIDES)”, Lourença Tavares, mentioned that due to the crisis, many children are not going to schools and with the combination of the increase in poverty, the country may face a delicate situation. Tavares affirms the necessity of bringing children to the center of local and national actions to reduce the consequences of the crisis on children.

Another institute called “Instituto da Criança e Adolescente (ICCA)”, through the representation of its president, Maria do Nascimento, also warned about the escalation of the poor children's vulnerable situation. She pointed out that there are already cases of children working in the streets and the institution is now trying to grasp all information to measure the level of the situation. According to her, children’s labor is normally informal and in this sense, it is difficult to have precise data about it.
