The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) demands an urgent appeal for the disclosure and protection over the enforced disappearance of Dr. Usama Aleem Anjum and Mr. Mohammad Irtiza Siddique.
The two senior members of the MQM, Dr. Usama Aleem Anjum and Mr. Mohammad Irtiza Siddique, went missing on January 20th, 2026, at approximately nine PM, in the area of Gul Plaza, Karachi. The two members were on their way to provide assistance to the victims of Gul Plaza fire incident that recently broke out and provide relief. The abduction was conducted by people believed to be associated with law-enforcement agencies.
Since January 20th, 2026, no one has seen or heard from the victims. Their mobile phones have been turned off, and family members have not been provided with any information, leaving them with serious concerns over their safety.
Enforced disappearance is a violation of human rights law. Authorities need to take immediate action to disclose their whereabouts to family members and ensure their safety. Additionally, authorities should conduct an independent and transparent investigation into the issue.
