The conference addresses the growing concern over blasphemy-related accusations and mob violence targeting religious minorities in Bangladesh. These incidents raise serious questions about freedom of religion or belief, state responsibility, access to justice, and the protection of vulnerable communities under international human rights law.
Bringing together international human rights experts, legal professionals, civil society representatives, media analysts, and NGOs, the
conference will analyse patterns of violence, assess existing legal and human rights frameworks, and explore international responses and policy options at the United Nations and European Union levels.
The programme includes a keynote address, three thematic panel discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions. Topics will cover international legal obligations, accountability mechanisms, the role of media, the social and psychological impact on affected communities, and the role of NGOs and international actors in prevention, monitoring, and response.
